These cold and rainy fall chills often leave me craving for something warm, boosty and full-bodied. Like this Boosty Matcha Latte! It’s so rich, so comforting, and soooo velvety in texture. Plus I love the green tea taste and the energy it gives combined with nutty hemp hearts, full of Omega 6 and 3 as well as Vitamins A, B, D and E, and all the good stuff from creamy coconut milk!
Superfoods like matcha and hemp hearts have taken over the health food world lately. I’ve already experimented with hemps hearts before incorporating them in my delicious morning smoothies and when I made these no bake energy bars. But after combining them with the green tea in this boosty matcha latte I’m completely hooked on this combination. SO good!
Have you ever tried matcha? It’s Japanese green tea that has an incredible variety of nutritional benefits. Unlike steeped green tea, matcha is made by grinding the entire tea leaf into a powder. And because they are consumed in their entirety, it has approximately 10x more nutrients than regular green tea. It boosts energy, reduces stress, and promotes overall health!
This boosty matcha latte is dairy free made with hemp hearts and coconut milk and can also be vegan if you substitute honey with maple syrup or any other of your favorite syrups. It’s a delicious and healthy treat for your eyes and mouth.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp matcha powder
3 cups filtered water
2 tbsp + 1 tsp honey
1/2 cup + 1 tbsp hemp hearts
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 can coconut milk (full fat)
Add water and hemp hearts into a blender and blend until hemp hearts are completely broken down. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh reserving the milk and discarding the hemp hearts.
Add matcha powder into a small cup and dissolve it in a few tablespoons of hemp milk. Add vanilla extract and combine dissolved matcha with the rest of the hemp milk.
Heat the mixture in a pot until simmering (do not boil). Let slightly cool and mix in honey and one tablespoon of hemp hearts (for the crunch). Mix until dissolved and pour it carefully into the serving cups dividing equally.
*** For chilled latte, mix in crushed ice into the mixture***
Reserve a few tablespoons of coconut cream and whisk the remaining coconut milk. Carefully pour the coconut milk on top of the matcha mixture dividing equally between the cups.
Whip up reserved coconut cream with honey and scoop on top of the matcha latte.
Sprinkle with some hemp hearts and matcha powder.
