Those of you who knows and follows me on Instagram noticed that I have a love that borders with obsession for my dogs, Jean and Benji. Jean is almost 6 years old and thinks he is a human. Benji is 2 and he loves to talk.
We spend time together every day, and they’re always there for me when times get tough. I love them more than it’s probably reasonable and since the way I show love best is through food, I decided to make my little friends some special gluten free doggie treats today.
There’s something about making treats at home for your furry friend that’s really special. It’s easy to buy standard dog treats at the store but for me it’s comforting to know exactly what goes into making them, so I know that I’m not feeding my dogs harmful chemicals.
Sweet Monday morning…
Jean, would you like to make some treats?
“Did you say treats?”
“I’m downstairs, are you coming?”
Ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup carrots, boiled
1/4 cup chicken, boiled
2 strips bacon, fried and broken into roughly 1/4 inch square pieces
2 tbsp parsley
1 tbsp parmesan cheese
In a large mixing bowl combine the ingredients and stir until just blended.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take about 1 tablespoon of the dough mixture and roll it to create a ball.
Press it flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using your finger press into the center of the biscuit to create the base of the paw, then use a chop stick to make the toes at the top. Repeat this process until you have used all of the dough.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool completely before giving your pup a treat. This should keep in the airtight container in the fridge for about 2 weeks.

OMG!!! I’m swooning!!! ♡ Love for furry four legged children can never (ever) be crazy! I recently lost my oldest “child” and the loss was very similar to that of losing my father. I think it takes a dog lover to truly understand how much they mean to you. I love these treats (and your photos!) ! I’m definately going to be making these for my baby girl this weekend! I know she is going to love them! Thanks for sharing and Cheers to both you and your pups! ♡

Awww thanks Cheyanne! I am so sorry for your loss 🙁 I can NOT even imagine what it feels like! These little guys mean the world to me! And I know they appreciate it – those puppy kisses, aren’t they the best? 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your baby girl will enjoy them as much!!!

What a couple of cuties!!!
I’m going to have to try these- I love to spoil my pups but even the organic treats are filled with sugar and crap. The other day we bought some pumpkin treats and once we got them home we noticed one of the first ingredients were “cane juice” so we tasted one – it was basically a pumpkin flavored teddy graham.

Tux – thanks so much for lovely compliments and stopping by! I know, sugar is definitely is a big no-no for our four-legged friends, although, I do get my guys to lick ice cream – can’t resist those looks, sigh…
P.S Betty and Russel are just adorable! I love schnauzers and am planning on having one someday.

Did you add the bacon fat as well? These need to have a fat in order for the nutrients to be metabolized. Instead of bacon, you can also use pork belly.

How much does it make?
