I love Halloween! Being a kid I never had it back home and I was missing out on all of the fun that kids have here. I mean, what an excuse to eat so much candy, chocolate and cookies, right?
In my kitchen Halloween is all about treats, candy, and chocolate. Because, you see, I was never a fan of savoury Halloween dishes. I always get a squeamish feeling whenever I see meatloaf that looks like a brain or all kinds of jelly appetizers that look like veiny eyeballs. Although some people find stuff like that really cool, these dishes kind of gross me out a bit and I tend to lose my appetite. Go ahead, call me a BABY.
But you know what? I wish I had these Halloween Ferrero Spider Cookies sooner! Because they are so soft, chocolaty and always soft, and buttery, and perfectly soft (did I already say that?) cookie. These Halloween Ferrero Spider Cookies are so fun and spooky, but none of them are gross looking. And aren’t they the cutest?!?
Ok, maybe except for that creepy little guy who is about to attack my hand since I just ate his best buddy.
And now the whole gang got steamed up. Just look at those eyes on the background!
Cookie part is super easy and that is your only cooking part my friend! Although, I cannot say these are completely no fuss because, I will not lie, those spider legs and eyes took me a good thirty minutes to form. But seeing how many Halloween dessert decoration ideas are on our good old friend internet this one is DO-ABLE!
Eyes are made with icing sugar mixed with water to form a paste and melted chocolate chips which are then pipped out from a pastry or ziploc bag. You can also buy pre-made googly eyes from almost every baking section in the grocery store. There you go, one option for peeps who have a little weekend time, and one for peeps who have zero time but need Halloween Ferrero Spider Cookies and they need it served in a cute, spooky way!
Make them with your kids and they will love you! And if you are entertaining this weekend here are a few spooky links for you. You’re never too old for a little Halloween fun… or candy. Just sayin.

Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup butter, room temperature
1/4 cup peanut butter, room temperature
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips
10 Ferrero candies
1/4 cup icing sugar mixed in with 1 tsp water or 40 store bought candy eyes
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Whisk until combined and set aside.
In a mixer bowl combine butter with peanut butter and beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Then add sugars, vanilla and egg. Beat for another couple minutes until combined. Using a spatula fold the flour mixture into the butter mixture and mix until incorporated. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350 F. and line the silicon mat or parchment paper on the baking sheet.
Measure 1 tablespoon of dough mixture and using your hands roll a ball. Place a ball on the silicon mat and repeat to make 20 balls. Put the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 8 minutes.
Then remove from the oven and using a pestle press gently in the centre of each cookie. Don’t worry if they crack slightly. Place them back in the oven and bake for another 7-8 minutes.
Melt chocolate chips and let the chocolate slightly cool down. Then transfer to a pastry or zip bag and pipe 4 spider legs on each side of the cookies.
Unwrap Ferrero candies and cut each in half. Place halved Ferrero in the centre of the cookie.
Place icing sugar and water mixture (should be a tooth paste consistency) in a piping or ziploc bag with a small tip snipped off. First pipe out the whites of the eyes on all cookies.
Add the pupils using the bag with leftover chocolate chip mixture and set aside to dry. Store in an airtight container.

HA! These are hilarious and adorable! I’m with you on the gross savoury dishes – I can’t do it. I don’t want to eat something that looks like a dead body part *bleh*

Thanks Shareba! I would have to agree.
