Morning – that magical time of the day! It’s filled with smells of creamy aroma of pancakes, fresh bread and waffles, fragrant roasted coffee and warm tea. It’s important that every morning is calm and hassle free for the right start of the day.
Mornings in big cities, however, are often chaotic. We do not have time to experience the magical birth of a new day; don’t have time to think and dream; don’t have time for а laid-back breakfast.
We need to re-learn how to catch our mornings that come from a relaxed pajamas childhood in our mother’s kitchen. We didn’t hurry back then, we chatted with our bare feet under the kitchen table, breaking apart the waffle cones (trubochki), smudging the filling all over the table and telling about the dreams we saw last night. Mom … I love you!
These crispy and airy waffle cones are generously filled with creamy and nutty filling. It’s a desperately uncomfortable dessert, but always a favorite treat for a child with an undisguised delight. It does not matter which country you are from or the reason you are making them, baking the waffle cones brings about a positive and energizing boost.
Waffle Cones Ingredients:
5 eggs
1 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
Filling:
2 cans cooked condensed milk or Dulce-de-leche
1 cup walnuts, toasted
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
To make the batter, whisk together the eggs and sugar. Add the melted and cooled butter. Gradually add all of the flour and mix to combine. The batter should be the consistency of a sour cream.
Place about a tablespoon of the batter onto a waffle cone maker and press. The batter will spread forward as it bakes. Bake for a few minutes, just until the waffles are slightly golden.
Remove the waffle on the cutting board and quickly roll it around the plastic attachment or a clean marker. Waffles are getting harder to roll as they cool down, so work really fast. Repeat with all the batter.
To make the filling mix together the butter and condensed milk until smooth and incorporate toasted walnuts into the mixture. Fill a piping bag with the filling and stuff the waffle cones with it.
Serve the same day sprinkled with dusting sugar.
